Art Sessions

An 8-Week Creative Journey Through Sketching, Shading, and Colour
Sessions are going to be delivered by Ms Leanne Caruana
Whether you’re a curious beginner or a returning art lover, this workshop is a gentle and joyful exploration into the world of drawing and pastels. Across eight themed weeks, participants will experiment with different tools and techniques, developing their skills through still life, studio work, and outdoor sketching.
Introduction to Graphite Pencils
We begin with the basics — exploring the power of pencil. Participants will learn how to control pressure, build value scales, and understand light and shadow to bring form and depth to simple sketches.
Still Life in Graphite
Students will apply their pencil skills to still life compositions, learning to observe, sketch, and refine objects with accurate proportions and tonal shading.
Introduction to Soft Pastels
We shift into colour with soft pastels. This week focuses on blending techniques, colour layering, and understanding the expressive potential of pastels.
Still Life in Pastels
Participants will create vibrant still life artworks using soft pastels, building confidence in their use of colour, texture, and composition.
Plein Air Sketching
Weather permitting, we’ll venture outdoors to a scenic location to practice drawing from life. This “plein air” session gives students the chance to work with natural light and shifting landscapes.
“Bring the Beach to Rabat” Session
We wrap up with a playful, themed session where we recreate beach scenes indoors. A relaxing and creative close to the programme — filled with colour, imagination, and summer vibes.
